Embedded in our school curriculum is learning about the ‘doorways to sustainability’ these are; food and drink, energy and water, travel and traffic, purchasing and waste, buildings and grounds, inclusion and participation, local well being and global dimension.
As well as focussing on different areas of sustainability through our curriculum there are things that we do all year round to make our school more sustainable.
We recycle our paper waste, we compost our food waste and we have water butts to collect rain water to look after our crops. We grow food on our school grounds and sell it to our families and we sell the eggs that our hens lay. The money we make helps us to buy food for the hens and seeds to grow more food. Here are some photographs of our crop harvesting from this year.
